Hear about my own experience first
If you're considering a hair transplant in Istanbul, you can ask me anything about my own treatment at the clinic I went to myself. I'm happy to tell you what the first contact, the communication, the trip, the treatment day, my stay in Istanbul, and the recovery were like for me.
Why Istanbul
Why I chose Istanbul
I knew beforehand that a hair transplant in Istanbul is often much cheaper than in the Netherlands. Still, the price wasn't the deciding factor for me. I already knew the city, felt comfortable there, and had more confidence in the good clinics there than in the Netherlands.
That obviously doesn't mean every clinic is good. For me it was mainly about trust in the doctor, the team, and the way of working. Since the result stays visible for years, I found that more important than just the price.
You can simply walk around outside
After a hair transplant, it's clearly visible that you've been treated. It just isn't a pretty sight. In Istanbul, almost nobody bats an eye at that. I constantly saw people walking around who had clearly had a cosmetic procedure. That made me feel less watched, and I could just go outside.
A lot of experience
An enormous number of hair transplants are performed in Istanbul. That gave me more confidence in the good clinics there than in the Netherlands. The main challenge was finding that good clinic, since performing many treatments alone says nothing about quality.
I think Istanbul is a great city
I already knew the neighborhood where I stayed. It feels familiar and European. If you enjoy Turkish food, history, going out, or football, Istanbul is great. The treatment was of course the reason for my trip, but the city made the stay a lot more pleasant.
